Change the Color of an Image

To change a color in an image, open the picture in the tool above, click the color you want to replace, choose the new color, adjust the range slider and click Download; the recolored file is created in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

1. Click the color you want to change.
2. Pick the new color.
3. Adjust the range, then download.

The tool looks at the hue of the spot you clicked. Every pixel with a similar hue is moved to the hue of your new color, while its brightness and shading are kept, so shadows and highlights on the object still look natural. The edge of the range fades out so there is no hard line. Transparent areas of a PNG stay transparent.

If you click a gray, white or black area, the tool matches by brightness instead, because those colors have no hue.

• The background changed too. It has a similar color. Lower the range, or cut the object out first with the background remover.
• Part of the object did not change. Raise the range a little.
• Very dark or very bright areas look flat. Those areas hold little color information, so recoloring them is limited.
