How Do You Add a Border to a Photo?

To add a border to a photo, drop the picture on the tool above, choose a border thickness and color, optionally round the corners, then click Download; the framed picture saves from your browser and nothing is uploaded.

  1. Add the photo.
  2. Set thickness, color and corners.
  3. Download the result.

How Do You Get a Rounded White Border?

Set the color to white, give the border a thickness (for example 40 pixels) and raise the corner slider. The outer edge and the photo inside are rounded together so the curves stay even. Save as PNG to keep the corners transparent, or as JPG, where the corners are filled with the corner color you choose (white by default).

Is the Border Added Inside or Outside the Picture?

The tool adds the border around your picture, so the file gets larger by twice the border thickness in each direction and nothing is cut off. For example a 1000 × 800 photo with a 50 px border becomes 1100 × 900 px.

Tips

  • A border that is about 3 to 6 percent of the shorter side usually looks balanced.
  • For social posts, crop to the right shape first with the cropper, then add the border.
  • Put several framed photos in one picture with the image combiner.
  • If the result is large, shrink it with the compressor.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I add a white border to a picture?

Add the picture, keep the border color white, choose a thickness and click Download.

How do I round the corners of a photo?

Move the corner slider. Save as PNG for transparent corners.

Does adding a border change the photo quality?

The picture itself is drawn at its original size. A JPG is re-compressed when saved, so use PNG if you want it lossless.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser.
