imgmend (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and handle your information when you use our AI image processing services at imgmend.com — including the AI noise remover, background remover, and watermark remover tools.
We have designed imgmend with privacy as a core principle. You do not need to create an account to use our tools, and we do not store your uploaded images after processing is complete. This policy describes exactly what happens to your data when you use our service.
2. Information We Collect
We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide the service. Here is a detailed breakdown:
- Images you upload: Photos and images submitted for processing are transmitted securely to our AI processing provider (Replicate) and deleted immediately after the processed result is returned to you. We do not store your images on our servers at any point. We do not retain copies of your uploaded photos or the processed results.
- Usage data: We may collect anonymous, aggregated analytics data such as the number of page views, browser type and version, device type (desktop or mobile), and general geographic region (country-level only). This data is never linked to your identity and cannot be used to identify you personally.
- Payment information: If you purchase a Pro plan, your payment is processed entirely by Stripe, a third-party payment processor. We never see, receive, or store your credit card number, CVV, or bank details. Stripe handles all payment security and PCI compliance on our behalf.
- Email address (Pro users only): If you purchase a Pro plan via Stripe, Stripe shares your email address with us so we can identify your Pro status and handle support requests. We do not use this email address for marketing unless you explicitly opt in.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes only:
- To process your images through our AI models and return the results to you
- To verify your Pro plan status and grant access to unlimited processing
- To process payments for Pro plan purchases via Stripe
- To provide customer support when you contact us
- To monitor service health, diagnose technical issues, and improve reliability
- To understand general usage patterns through anonymous aggregate analytics
- To comply with applicable legal obligations
We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers. We do not use your images to train AI models. We do not build profiles of individual users.
4. Image Data — Detailed
Because you are uploading personal photos to our service, we want to be especially clear about how your images are handled:
- Transmission: Your image is transmitted from your browser to our server over an encrypted HTTPS connection.
- Processing: Your image is forwarded to Replicate's API for AI processing. Replicate runs the AI model and returns the processed result. This entire round-trip typically takes 10–30 seconds.
- Deletion: After the processed result is returned to your browser, both the original and processed images are discarded. We do not retain any copy.
- Replicate's policy: While your image is being processed, it is subject to Replicate's Privacy Policy. Replicate does not use customer images to train models.
- No long-term storage: We have no database of uploaded images. We do not back up, archive, or retain photos in any form.
In plain terms: your photo passes through our system, gets processed by AI, and the result is sent back to you. After that, the image is gone.
5. Cookies and Local Storage
imgmend uses minimal browser storage. Here is exactly what we store and why:
- Language preference (localStorage): We store your selected language (English or Chinese) locally in your browser so that the site displays in your preferred language on return visits. This is stored only in your browser and is never sent to our servers.
- Pro access status (sessionStorage): After you verify your Pro plan, a flag is stored in your browser's session storage to unlock Pro features during your visit. This is cleared when you close your browser tab and is not linked to any account or identifier.
- No advertising cookies: We do not use Google Ads cookies, Facebook Pixel, or any advertising or retargeting cookies. We do not track you across other websites.
- No third-party tracking: We do not embed third-party trackers, social media widgets, or analytics scripts that profile you individually.
6. Third-Party Services
imgmend uses a small number of carefully chosen third-party services. Here is what each does and how it relates to your privacy:
- Replicate (AI processing): Your uploaded images are sent to Replicate's API for AI model inference. Replicate is an AI infrastructure provider. View their Privacy Policy.
- Stripe (payment processing): Pro plan payments are handled by Stripe. Stripe processes your card details in a PCI-compliant environment. We receive only a confirmation token — never your card number. View Stripe's Privacy Policy.
- Vercel (hosting): imgmend is hosted on Vercel's infrastructure. Vercel may log request metadata (IP address, request path, timestamp) for operational purposes. View Vercel's Privacy Policy.
7. Data Retention
We retain different types of data for different periods:
- Uploaded images: Not retained. Discarded immediately after processing.
- Anonymous usage analytics: Aggregate data may be retained for up to 12 months for trend analysis. No individual user can be identified from this data.
- Payment records: Payment records (amounts, dates, Stripe transaction IDs) are retained as required by applicable accounting and tax law (typically 7 years). We do not store card details — only Stripe's transaction reference.
- Support emails: If you contact us by email, your message and our reply may be retained as a record of the conversation for up to 2 years.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to access: You can request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
- Right to deletion: You can request that we delete any personal data we hold. Since we do not store images and do not require accounts, there is typically no data to delete. For payment-related records, we may be legally required to retain certain information.
- Right to correction: If any personal data we hold is inaccurate, you can request that we correct it.
- Right to object: You can object to certain types of data processing, including direct marketing (which we do not currently conduct).
- GDPR (EU residents): If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation including the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
- CCPA (California residents): If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

9. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data:
- All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections.
- We use industry-standard third-party providers (Stripe, Replicate, Vercel) with their own security certifications and compliance programs.
- We do not store images, so there is no image database that could be breached.
- We do not store passwords — the Pro plan is verified via a Stripe customer ID, not a username/password account.
No system is 100% secure, but we have minimized the attack surface by avoiding storing sensitive user data in the first place.
10. Children's Privacy
Our service is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information.
11. International Data Transfers
imgmend is operated from servers located primarily in the United States (Vercel infrastructure). If you are accessing our service from outside the United States — including from the European Union — your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States. We take steps to ensure that any such transfers comply with applicable data protection laws, including through our reliance on service providers who comply with GDPR standard contractual clauses where applicable.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we may provide additional notice.
Continued use of the service after any changes to this policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
